This Just In: British People Meet a Basketball

Sigh. This is the most awkward photo of three people holding a basketball ever. Finally, something that Prince George can one day be embarrassed by his [almost] perfect parents for. On behalf of America, you're welcome, George.

At least the coat looks great.

Kate Middleton, Honorary New Yorker

Well HELLO.

Check out those unbelievable pants! Something tells me those insanely form-fitted-to-perfection pants are not maternity, but Will and Kate look very ready for a night in New York City! Kate wore a gray/silver Tory Burch Bettina coat to meet the Clintons at yet another fundraiser-- finally an American designer! Kudos goes to Tory Burch for snagging the honor, but I had a feeling that would be the case, as Kate has worn Tory Burch in the past. But the real star of tonight will definitely be those pants. That's a New York City pair of pants right there. I think this means Kate is officially a New Yorker.

I think it's equally important to highlight Prince William's ensemble. Plaid! I adore the gent. I mean positively adore this guy in and out, plaid and Native American belt and all. He looks like the brawny man-- it's like he got a memo on what Brooklyn hipster guys wear and decided to embrace it wholeheartedly. Looking fabulous, Wills.

I'd like to just state for the record that I am currently watching my first basketball game on TV ever. I'm dedicated to the cause, people.

The Farther from London, The Shorter the Hemline

I'm just saying, is anyone else noticing Kate's micro hemlines in NYC? The little rebel Princess is taking a more daring look in a city that never really plays it safe with fashion. If this is what Kate has to do to break the British mold, then power to ya sister! Modesty is still reigning supreme with the royal, but you can tell the Duchess is trying to have a little more fun during her American visit than her conservative motherland would normally allow. NYC will do that to you, bb, so drink that Kool Aid.

Disappointingly though, Kate wore another British designer in a nonetheless stellar coat by Goat. No doubt she'll need a good coat in this deep freeze, but a little more Americana wouldn't have hurt. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Kate is in Harlem today to wrap presents with little kiddies, and no doubt the teacher in that classroom is the luckiest woman in the world. I mean, if I could meet a princess while working for the New York Board of Education, I would say that my life was made-- Princess meeting AND a pension. Now that's what I'm talking about. Stay tuned-- there's more to come.

A Princess in New York

I'm dying. I'm kvelling. I'm shepping. I'm literally cannot even-ing. The Duchess is HERE. In my city, in my hometown, in my air space, in my breathing space. Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cmbridge, Kitty-Kat Kate Middleton is in the city that never sleeps and I can't handle it.

Last night, Kate and her ridiculously handsome (he looks so much more handsome in New York) husband Will showed up to the Carlyle hotel to true fanfare. It may not have been pomp and circumstance but it was a New York welcome to two people who were long over due for a visit.

Kate showed up to the legendary hotel wearing a stellar merlot colored coat from British maternity brand Seraphine and a pair of booties (the Duchess wore booties, people), and changed into a black lace Beulah dress with Stewart Weitzman heels for her dinner with the elite Brits of NYC. While I loved both looks tremedously, both designers were British-- I really hope that Kate embraces NYC fashion-wise and chooses some American based designers, specifically New York designers, for the rest of her visit. I would love to see her in some Diane Von Furstenburg, Zac Posen, or Alexander Wang.

All in all, it was a spectacular first night for the royal couple in NYC, and I give them both incredible props for walking outside without coats for the latter part of their evening; it's bitter cold and these two dressed like it's a mild 65 degrees out. WORD. I think the question here really is how come Kate could be 5 months pregnant and look svelte, but I eat half a sandwich and a tic tac and I look like the Goodyear blimp? Riddle me that.

Modest Hollywood

I. Can't. Even. I mean, really, can you? Can you even?

This is the classiest and prettiest bunch of modest Hollywood ladies I've seen in a long time. Yes, there are a few tried and true staples on here, like Kate Middleton, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Dianna Agron, Keira Knightley, and Julianne Moore, but it's always fun to see some new faces join the ranks of the modest echelon. I'm talking to you Hailey Baldwin,  Coco Rocha and Karen Elson.

I just want to say that I did not purposely put Lauren Conrad next to Kristen Cavallari-- while I do sorta wish that they would join forces and fight evil together, this was not a peacemaking mission on my part-- alphabetically, that's just how it happened. But ladies, if you are reading this, please turn our Hills-loving lives onto our heels and become besties.
