NYFW: Jason Wu, Kate Spade, Jenni Kayne, Nonoo, Rebecca Minkoff, Mara Hoffmann, Lacoste

For those not in the know, each NYFW I do a run down of all the shows featuring modest-style clothing that you or I would [theoretically] wear, while still highlighting the fashion trends for the upcoming season. This coming spring is proving to be a bit tricky in that modesty is not nearly as prevalent as it was in past shows. Understandable since Spring does tend to be the more revealing of the two main season shows. I have ot say that I am in L-O-V-E with Nonoo, whoever they are. Notice their use of color, also embraced by Mara Hoffmann and Kate Spade

NYFW Spring 2014: Not Your Grandma's Fashion Week...OK, Well Maybe A Little

NYFW happened to coincide with the holiest of holidays for the Hebrews this year so my posts had to be postponed until now. My apologies, OAKies. I did however spend this holiday with my grandfather, which is kind of the perfect segue into the apparent theme of some the shows for Spring 2014-- Grandma. Viewers take note, shiny pastels were abundant, as were severely oversized moo-moo looking things; much of Prabal Gurungs show made me nostalgic for my Grandma down in Florida by the pool, but in a good way. Fear not younger generation, there were graphic geometric prints aplenty as well as a plethora of clean lines and colorful youthful looks. More so than last year, this Spring will bring a lot more revealing clothing so we modest ladies will just have to make it work.

Shimmery Item of the Day

You know how sometimes you just wanna get a little blinged out and shimmer and shine like it's 1999? I know, me too. Don't worry, you're in good company. This top from Piperlime is like the best thing ever. It's perfect if you are into short sleeves but would look great under a blazer or cardigan (bonus points that the design is on the front only so you won't feel like you are covering up half the shirt you paid for). It hits all the essential colors (ahem, gold) and still manages to be cute and classy. Most of all, it's pleasing to the eye with a trendy but sophisticated graphic. Click the link below to glitter and glow in this top!

Metallic Meets Dainty

I posted this Piperlime top last week and here it is for viewing pleasure. Simply adorable. It's only $70 and when you order on Tuesdays, it's 10% off. Awesomeness. Is it on your wishlist yet? I love how it could work with a summery airy skirt like this pink one below (get this whole outfit here), but it would look spectacular come autumn with a nice red or orange skirt. Hurrah for versatility!

#GoldenGlobes2017: Best and Worst Dressed

It's that time of year again, the best time of the year where I get on the trusty [read: not-so-trusty-six-year-old] macbook to give you...
