New York Fashion Week Spring 2013!

Finally! Spring 2013 Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week has begun! I am ridiculously obsessed with fashion week as you all know from past posts, and so I wanna start right now. NO more waiting. What are the trends to look for just by getting a peek at some of these designers? PS Tadashi Shoji blew my mind. There were so many dresses that were utterly fascinating, but I just chose these few. When looking at his collection, just don't forget to breathe.
  • Neutrals and brights -- you can be sure those will be mixed to the nines next spring.
  • Lace -- Next is delicate fabrics; lace is everywhere on the runways, and it's no longer your grandma's doily kind of lace.
  • Graphic prints-- and not just regular old patterns like paisley; we're talking full on craziness.
  • Interesting hems/trims -- no longer can a skirt just be skirt. These tops adresses and skirts have character, flounce and shape. Score!

Leather Item of the Day

Happy Fashion Week, ladies! In honor of this most awesome-est of occasions, I decided to deliver a completely bad-ass but affordable top that is sure to turn a few heads. You gotta love Zara for retaining that European look in an American society, and this blouse with leather appliques speaks for itself. It has a brazen look to it with the leather, but is still soft and feminine in the way the design cascades down the shoulder. Leather is one of the hottest trends for the fall season (and I'm sure we'll be seeing quite a bit of it on the Spring runways in the coming days, too), so this would be a perfect top to pair up your New Year's skirts with! What better way to kick start the Jewish New Year, than with a truly killer top!

Modest Hollywood

It's been a good week in Hollywood, ladies. There seems to be some trends this week with regard to these red and white gowns that seem to be everywhere on the red carpet. These ladies glowed in all their glamour and fame, but I especially love the contrast between the dolled-up gals (Dania, Brit, Lana) in their gowns and the dressed-down moms (Camila, Isla, Jennifer) chilling with their kiddies. And then there is always Rihanna who is always in a class of her own-- bring back those 90's, babe! Hollywood is quite the strange place, ain't it.

Silky Item of the Day

Don't you just LOVE a good silk blouse? Don't you just LOVE color?  Don't you just LOVE Ryan Gosling? Well, then you will LOVE this blouse. I know what you're thinking-- what does this have to do with Ryan? Everything ladies...everything has to do with Ryan. But as for the bolouse, I adore thisone. It's in quite the interesting colors; one is a muted green that would work fabulously as a neutral in the fall, and the other is in a bright purple which will certainly brighten up any outfit.

The best part is that J. Crew is giving an additional 30% off all prices marked in red, so this shirt is only $49. Just use the code MUSTSHOP to claim the discount. Woohoo!

Patchwork Item of the Day

Hello cuteness!! This is quite possibly the most adorable and endearing sweater you can have for the upcoming fall and winter seasons. I absolutely LOVE the heart patches on the elbows of the sweater which are not at all juvenile; this sweater has a certain whimsy to it, no doubt, but the classic black and gray sweaters are only enhanced by the cute little surprise when you turn around, or flex your elbow. It can really drum up an outfit's unexpected cool factor, and since the detail is limited to the back, It would be cool to pair with a print bottom, or something really bright. Bottom line, you don't have to get too risky with this piece to take the risk. Prepare to be chic and adorable.
